Dear young researcher,

We have a privilege to inform you that The Asia-Pacific Young Scientists Association (AYSA) is again inviting young researchers from Northeast Forestry University (NEFU) to the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition 2025 in November. 3MT is an academic research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland, Australia. 3MT offers young researchers the opportunity to create an accessible and interesting presentation of their research for an audience of non-specialists. NEFU as one of the partner universities will first host the competition at the university level. A maximum of 5 top presenters will be selected to be invited to the final 3MT competition hosted by AYSA.

How to apply for the NEFU 3MT competition?

• We invite senior undergraduate and graduate-level forestry students in the College of Material Science and Engineering to participate. The presentation theme should be Wood Science, Bio-based Materials, Products & Bioenergy.

• Presentations must be based on research directly related to the student’s current graduate program thesis.

• Your task: Please follow the rules to prepare a PowerPoint slide and a maximum 3 minutes recording of your presentation (https://apfecm.forestry.ubc.ca/news-events/3mt/?login)! The presentation should be in English. Presentations should be recorded inside, with a minimalist background (i.e. a blank wall). Do not include any visuals complementing your presentation (the only visual allowed is your one 3MT slide). Example for preparing the slide and presentation of the 3MT is attached in the attachment. In the presentation, you should briefly describe your research and how you think it will have an impact on the forest-based industry and society as a whole. Present your vision for the development you want to promote with your research and how current obstacles can be overcome.
